Robber robs woman on welfare of RM10

SIBU: It’s a sign of hard times when a man mercilessly robbed a hardcore poor woman living on welfare handouts at Tanahmas Road yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at 9.30am when the 43-year-old woman, with a handicap, was at an ATM to check if her monthly aid from the Welfare Department had arrived.

When she found it had not, she left the bank with only RM10 in her purse unaware that she was being watched by the robber outside.

When she exited, the robber, wearing spectacles and helmet, pointed a knife to her waist.

The woman quietly handed over her purse with RM10 inside to the armed man who bolted with his ill-gotten gain.

The woman was too scared to shout, and walked home to relate the armed robbery.

Her mother accompanied her to the police station to lodge a report, that their identity cards were lost with the purse.

Both the victim and her husband are physically impaired.
