KOTA SAMARAHAN: The search operation for a missing elderly woman, Jimi Kipli of Kampung Meranek, has been widened with more personnel on board.

According to State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant director for operations Farhan Sufyan Borhan, the extra personnel includes a multi-skill team (MUST) for the search.

“Six MUST members will search for the victim from a special taskforce involved in forest search and rescue.”

He said personnel including those from Civil Defence Department, police as well as the villagers, were divided into 12 groups.

He added that the search area explored was extended from a 4-km radius to 8km in the vicinity.

The operation is centred on the river now that the woman’s belongings were found on the riverbank, including her shoes, clothes and a basket containing wild ferns discovered by the search and rescue teams yesterday.

Jimi was reported missing by her family on Sunday evening after she went to a farm nearby.
