MIRI: A young, single mother lodged a police report on Sunday after receiving threatening text messages from a male acquaintance.
According to sources, the 20-year-old complainant feared for her safety upon receiving a string of text messages from the suspect as he threatened to attack her with acid.
A police report has been lodged at Miri central police station (CPS). Sources added that the complainant received the threat around 10.30am.
In a separate incident, two women were among 11 people arrested during a police raid on a premises in Piasau industrial area late Sunday evening for their involvement in illegal online gambling.
In the raid, police also seized 14 computers from the outlet.
All suspects were brought to Miri CPS to facilitate police investigations.
