KENINGAU: After waiting for almost 20 years to have the promises fulfilled, some 500 people, involving 50 households in Kampung Kuala Kahaba Sook here, will finally get to enjoy the availability of clean water from a gravity pipe system provided and financed by the Ministry of Regional and Rural and Development (MRRD).

Pensiangan Umno division chief, Datuk Abdul Ghani Datuk Yassin, said, the villagers did not have clean water for almost 20 years leading them to resort to using rain water and water from the Dalit River. Now, he said, with the gravity pipe system, the residents will no longer be troubled to get water from the Dalit River for their daily needs.

“Previously, the villagers had to make do with muddy water from the Dalit River for their daily water supply needs every time it floods,” he said, when opening a Financial Management Training Program held in conjunction with the collective meeting of Umno branches from the Dalit zone in Pensiangan division held at Taman Tambalang, Kampung Kuala Kahaba Sook here, recently.

Besides launching the Kampung Kuala Kahaba gravity pipe system, Ghani also declared open the village library, SK Kuala Kahaba library and the Pensiangan Cooperative Society under the Pensiangan parliamentary program.

Ghani said, the Barisan Nasional (BN) government has always paid attention to the problems of the rural population, including education, economic development and health of the population, through assistance which is channeled through government departments and agencies concerned.

At the event, the 14 Umno branches in Dalit zone, along with its Wanita, Youth and Puteri Movement, together with the Pensiangan division expressed their support for Dato ‘Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak as Umno president and Prime Minister.
