MIRI: Miri are aiming for the semi-final round of the inaugural Sarawak Women Football Cup which kicks off in Sri Aman today (April 30).

Miri Football Association (MFA) president Mohd Saif Jubaidi believes that the women’s tournament will be competitive.

Saif revealed yesterday that their players were selected after several performance evaluations in various football and futsal tournaments.

“Although our comprehensive training only for two weeks prior to the actual event, we have trained the players along with the opposite gender in the field.”

“They have shown a high confidence level through learning the skills and tips from experienced male players,” he added.

MFA remains committed to scout for more players and host tournaments to promote women’s football in the future.

The Miri team departed for Sri Aman yesterday.

The state-level tournament is organised by Football Association of Sarawak.
