MIRI: A father and son fled their car just in time, minutes before it exploded into a fireball yesterday morning at Miri by-pass traffic intersection.

In the narrow escape at about 9am, the victim and his son were on their way to Permyjaya.

One fire engine from Lopeng Fire Station with five firemen were mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call.

The fire brigade arrived at the scene within minutes and managed to put out the blaze immediately.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire might have started from the car’s battery.

“I’m blessed that both my son and I survived in the incident,” said the man who wished to remain anonymous.
