KUCHING: Jean Seymour Harry was crowned Miss Cultural Harvest Festival 2015 during the grand final at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) on Saturday.

Jean, an Iban from Kuching, stood out among 15 other finalists as the fairest of them all. With a love for reading and travelling, she hopes to one day become a cardiothoracic surgeon.

She takes home the crown and RM3,000 cash and also the opportunity to take up a Diploma in Tourism Management course sponsored by Segi College.

The first runner up was Yvonne Ashley Lewis, 19, from Bintulu who won RM2,000 cash.

She holds a Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering from International College of Advanced Technology.

In second place was Francisca Luhong James Bungan, 19, from Sibu. Currently working part time as a sales person, she wishes to further her education in mass communication.

All top three winners also took home a trophy, sash, Emilio Valentino watch sponsored by Gateway Agency Sdn Bhd, complimentary stays at Grand Margherita Hotel and Damai Beach Resort, and a Nestle hamper each.

All other finalists received consolation prizes comprising RM300 cash, a trophy, a designer watch sponsored by Gateway Agency Sdn Bhd, and a Nestle hamper each.

For subsidiary titles, Nurshamilya Amira Annuar Rigos took the Miss Fitnesse Riverside WHF 2015, and received RM700 cash, a sash, Nestle hamper and bouquet.

Miss Photogenic Cultural Harvest Festival 2015, a title sponsored by Piqasa Studio, went to Jessy Gantle. Miss Beautiful Eyesight WHF 2015, sponsored by Eyesight Optic Sdn Bhd, went to Rachelle Mike Marthenson. They both win RM700 and a bouquet each.

Letticia Kila Thomas was named Miss Congeniality Cultural Harvest Festival 2015. She took home RM700 and a bouquet. She also won Miss Talent Harvest Festival 2015 with her rendition of Iban chanting.

Datin Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg presented all the prizes.

This year’s panel of judges comprised of International Women’s Association Kuala Lumpur advisor Datin Pearl A Jai Mohan, RTM Sarawak TV producer Datin Lydia Paya, Dayak Cultural Foundation manager Datin Senorita Linang, and Teleb Nath Gopi from AirAsia RexTix.

Also present were Abang Johari, and SCV general manager Jane Lian Labang.

Guests at the gala dinner also got to enjoy performances from international groups such as D’Bamboo Essential from Bandung, Indonesia and Sanggar Mayang Sari Kabupaten Sambas from West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Earlier, the guests were treated to the annual theme play – ‘Kumang’.
