Police still stay at the top despite losing

KUALA LUMPUR: Police mantained their top spot in the Super League despite losing 1-3 to no-hopers Armed Forces (ATM) at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi tonight.

‘The Cops’ who are flying high this season have collected 18 points after 10 matches.

In tonight’s match, Mohd Afif Amiruddin put police ahead in the 13th minute but ATM rose up to the occasion with Venice Elphi levelling the score in the 44th minute and team captain Hairuddin Omar earning a brace with his goals coming in the 55th and 60th minutes respectively.

Selangor also lost to Perak 1-2 at the Shah Alam Stadium but still retained their second spot in the table.

Their Brazilian import Guilherme De Paula put them ahead in the 18th minute before Namkung Woong pulled level for Perak when he converted a penalty in injury time of the first half.

Muhd Nurridzuan Abu Hassan Saari scored the winning goal for the visitors in the 61st minute but was later given the marching orders in the 85th minute after picking up a second yellow card.

At the Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan, Pahang edged neighbours Terengganu 3-2 with their goals coming from Zesh Rehman (26th, 45th) and Matias Conti (56th) while Terengganu’s were netted by Paulo Rangel (23rd, 80th).

Sarawak, meanwhile, edged Red Warriors Kelantan 3-2 at Stadium Negeri, Kuching with their goals coming through Ryan Griffiths (11th), Billy Mehmet (36th) and Joseph Kalang Tie (66th) whereas Erwin Carillo and Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria scored for Kelantan in the 17th and 85th minutes respectively.

At the Selayang Stadium, Sime Darby FC suffered their eighth defeat this season when they lost 1-2 to Lions XII of Singapore.

Fahrul Razi Kamaruddin had put ‘The Giant Killers’ ahead in the 23rd minute before Firdaus Kasman and Gabriel Quak Jun Yi “killed” them in the 56th and 66th minutes respecively. — Bernama
