MMB hall to have a new stage.

SIBU: Fourteen projects costing about RM4.5 million under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) are currently being implemented in Nangka constituency.

Its assemblyman, Dr Annuar Rapaee, said besides a major facelift costing RM500,000 to the 40-year-old Malay Melanau Bersatu (MMB) hall in Kampung Hilir, most of the other projects involved upgrading public facilities.

“This includes improvement to roads, halls, suraus, water pipes and installing lightings along roads leading to 30 longhouses in Nangka constituency,” Dr Annuar told The Borneo Post on Labour Day.

On renovation of the MMB hall, which included making the hall bigger, raising the floor, an additional badminton court, and a new stage, he said the last major renovation was done 35 years ago.

Work on the hall, which will benefit some 4,000 folk from Kampung Hilir, Kampung Baharu, Pa’ Dris, and surrounding areas, is scheduled to be completed this August.

Towards this end, Dr Annuar recalled the DAP voicing out against the RM500 million additional allocation for rural development in the recent State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.

He said this should be an eye-opener as the money would benefit the whole state.

The opposition, he said, had run out of issues to pick on.
