LAWAS: Fire broke out at a suspected illegal cyber gambling den at a shophouse in Sundar Sunday afternoon.

Twelve officers and men led by Masli Dollah from the Fire and Rescue Department here rushed to the scene and succeeded in containing the fire and prevented it from spreading to other shophouses.

According to the station fire chief, Mohd Shamlie Radaie, no injuries or casualties were recorded. Only the caretaker was at the premises at the time of the incident.

“About 80 per cent of the centre were destroyed and among those lost in the fire were computers and other electrical appliances,” he said.

Sundar SAO Ladin Atok and Lawas PWD engineer Norman Jan were also at the scene when the firemen were busy putting out the fire.

Total losses and the cause of the fire have yet to be ascertained.
