Go Bald 2015 raises RM384,000 thus far

KUCHING: Go Bald 2015 Kuching raised RM309,629.80 with 472 heads shaved on Sunday at Cityone Megamall.

Combined with the Sri Aman Satellite Shave that raised RM62,561.30 and the Rotaract Club of Swinburne with RM12,000, the total raised to date is RM384,191.10.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who was among the first 12 shaved, raised RM100,000 from well-wishers.

Others among the ‘first 12 shave’ were Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) president Rodney Wong, Era.fm DJ Afick and My.fm DJ Addy.

A SCCS statement said Go Bald would be in Sibu on May 10 at Delta Mall, in Miri on May 17 at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall, and in Bintulu on May 24 at Parkcity Everly Hotel.

At least three more satellite shaves would be held in Kuching after the main events ended, starting with St Joseph Private School on May 29.

Go Bald 2015 is organised by SCCS and is supported by Tru Events, Borneo LED, AD Jeans, YFS Fashion Chain Store, Cahya Mata Sarawak, MickLong Bridal Studio, Benta Mewah Sdn Bhd, Mavisco Sdn Bhd, Gather Café, H.I.P. Casual Dining, Ray’s Salon & Academy, Hair Plus and Absolute Hair Studio.

The official venue sponsor for Kuching is CityOne Megamall, Delta Mall for Sibu, Permaisuri Imperial City Mall for Miri, Park City Everly Hotel for Bintulu and Seri Simanggang Hotel for Sri Aman.

The official media for Go Bald 2015 are MY.fm, ERA.fm and HITZ.fm. First launched in 2009, Go Bald is the largest and the first head-shaving charity event in Sarawak.

This year, SCCS aimed to raise RM1.5 million for a new transit home in Miri, to cover operational expenses, and to focus more on improving their support services.
