SERIAN: An Indonesian was found dead after a fight that broke out during a drinking session at a house in Kampung Krangan Tekalong Balai Ringin on Sunday.

Serian police special branch head ASP Aldrin Junaidi Kutoi confirmed receiving the report of the case.

According to witnesses, the 41-year-old victim was having a drinking session with three of his countrymen at a neighbour’s house around 9pm.

“It is said that he (the victim) suddenly got angry with his wife and a quarrel ensued, where he accused her of having an affair.

“The victim was about to pick up a stone when one of his friends touched his shoulder — apparently as an attempt to stop him. The victim then pushed his friend’s hand away, which triggered a verbal fight between the two,” he said.

It is believed that the victim’s friend used a piece of wood to hit him on the back twice.

Everybody fled the scene when they saw the victim collapse. When his wife returned some time later, she found that he was already dead.

“We rushed to the scene as soon as we received the call. The Indonesian Consulate here has also been informed on the
case,” said Aldrin.

The body was brought to Serian Hospital’s mortuary in a police truck. The case, in which the victim’s friend is the suspect, is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
