KUALA LUMPUR: Police yesterday detained PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, or Mat Sabu, to assist in the investigation on the gathering to protest against the Goods and Services Tax (GST), last Friday.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said Mat Sabu was detained under Section 143 of the Penal Code and Section 4 of the Sedition Act.

Mat Sabu, who was present with his lawyer Nasar Khan, was detained shortly after giving his statement at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters, here.

“We asked him (Mat Sabu) to come forward to give a statement on the gathering,” Zainuddin said when contacted by Bernama. — Bernama
