DBKU and Bai ethnic group sign letter of intent

KUCHING: Kuching City North Hall (DBKU) and the Bai ethnic group aspire to strengthen communication, intensify cooperation in their efforts to establish friendship city ties between Kuching and Dali in Yunnan province,
China.

Towards these efforts DBKU and Dali autonomous prefecture of Bai ethnic group in Yunnan Province today signed the letter of intend to mutual understanding and friendship in promoting exchanges in the fields of economy,
trade, education, personnel, science and technology, culture, tourism and other matters.

Kuching City North mayor Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai signed for DBKU while president of Foreign Friendship Association, Da Li Prefecture Liang Zhimin signed for the other party and witnessed by Sarawak Local Government and
Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

Abang Abdul Wahap in his speech said the objective of the friendship and province relationship was to positively develop and push forwards the roles and aspirations towards common development, prosperity and cooperation between the two regions.

He said both parties had agreed to take on the letter of intent for the period of two years from the date of signing.

He said during the discussion with the Dali Prefecture delegates yesterday both parties had agreed to have work together in the field of education and culture.

Meanwhile Zhimin in his speech said Malaysia was chosen as the first destination to be visited by the Dali Prefecture delegation this year based on China and Malaysia’s long history of bilateral friendship.-Bernama
