Seven teams vying for Betong League

BETONG: Betong Division Football Association (BDFA) intend to organise major tournaments regularly in continueing efforts to develop football in Betong.

BDFA president Nelson Kloni Kanang said this during the opening of Betong League Championship 2015 and the 17th Datuk Patinggi Jabu Trophy at Betong Sports Complex yesterday.

“For this year, the top two league teams have the chance to compete at the Sarawak Champions League and to represent Betong to vie for the state level championship to be held in Kuching,” he added.

Seven teams are vying for the Betong Championship League title. Cash prizes of RM5,000 (champion), RM2,500 (runner-up) and RM1,500 (joint third) will be given out.

The tournament for the Datuk Patinggi Jabu Trophy will offer RM5,000 and RM2,500 cash for the top two teams. Teams finishing joint third will receive RM1,000 each.

Betong District officer Friday Belik kicked off the tournament.

Also present was Sarawak Football Association vice president Haidel Heli and heads of departments.
