KUCHING: The sole authorised distributor of Atlas Copco generator sets (gensets) for the Sarawak-Sabah market, KTS Trading Sdn Bhd, has launched the Gesan range here.

The unveiling was held during the ‘Atlas Copco Night’ on Friday, which was attended by some 130 clients from various sectors including construction, quarry operations, infrastructure, cement industry and manufacturing. The event was to commemorate customers’ strong support and confidence in Atlas Copco products throughout the years.

Founded in 1986, Gesan is a Spanish multinational manufacturer of diesel and petrol gensets, which was later acquired by Altas Copco in 2011.

With power capacity ranging from three kilo-volt amps (kVA) to 3,100kVA, the Gesan range serves both primary power supply and standby purposes across a global network of 85 countries.

In his address, KTS Group deputy managing director Temenggong Vincent Lau believed that KTS together with Atlas Copco would be able to cater for a wider range of customers, following the launch of Gesan products.

“When KTS became Atlas Copco’s sole distributor for the (Sarawak and Sabah) region some 30 years ago, we were all well aware that the pertinence of the products and services we offered could only be validated by customers’ reception.

“Over the years, KTS and Atlas Copco have been receiving strong support and encouraging response from customers. We indeed pride ourselves for being a partner and a solution provider in extending to our customers the Atlas Copco’s vast range of products.”

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Lau said KTS and Altas Copco – with a proven successful track record and partnership over the last 30 years – would continue to work together and overcome whatever situations that came their way.

“We have not only a shared past, but also a future together. We hope we would continue our journey, move forward and embrace the future together.”

Earlier, Atlas Copco general manager of compressor technique for Malaysia and Singapore, Francis Liekens said Atlas Copco, established in Stockholm, Sweden in 1873, had been serving customers across 180 countries and recruiting more than 44,000 employees in over 90 countries.

He said the multinational that upheld three core values – interaction, commitment and innovation – had always striven to be the ‘first in mind and first in choice’ among customers.

“For interaction, we always listen to customers and the market needs. In terms of commitment, we believe in long-term relationships. Innovation is about having our own way of doing business and we believe that there is always a better way to do things.”

Liekens said to provide better and value-added products to customers, Atlas Copco had 9,000 engineers, working day and night according to different time zones.

He added that the corporation also fulfilled its social responsibility through a community project ‘Water For All’, in addition to its commitment in innovation.

“We serve customers in all industries such as energy, food supplies, automotive supplies as well as oil and gas.

“While we provide professional and reliable services, it is also our obligation to put our customers ahead of competition by giving them productivity as well as energy-saving and safe solutions.”

Prior to the launch, Liekens visited the KTS Gallery at Crown Towers here, where he recalled having asked about the businesses that KTS had been engaged in before this.

“After visiting the gallery, I want to change the question to: ‘What activities do you not do?” he quipped.

On the KTS-Altas Copco partnership, he said: “After 32 years as partners, you can count on us to continue doing so for many, many more years.”
