KUCHING: Make positive criticisms for everyone to work together to solve issues and problems affecting the people, said Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who is also Assistant Housing Minister and PBB supreme council member.
Criticising without being supported by facts and figures would not benefit Sarawakians, he added.
“Beating around the bush will not make one a hero,” he also told the critics, especially those from the state DAP – be it in or out of the state legislative assembly (DUN).
“DAP wants to see change and change are what they get from our new Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem,” he said.
Since taking over the helm of power, Adenan had made drastic changes in government policies and even people on the street were acknowledging it, Abdul Karim said.
He cited some of the issues Adenan had dealt with: Illegal logging activities and illegal immigrants have been curtailed; electricity tariff for domestic, industrial and commercial users reduced; old land lease tenure maintained upon sub-division of land; toll revision and revocation; and no Hudud law for Sarawak.
These policies and guidelines are being enforced or put into practice, he pointed out.
Adenan had repeatedly called for Sarawak to have a better bargain on its oil resources and “discussions” are being done between the state and Petronas in this, Karim pointed out.
“Efforts are being made, as highlighted by Adenan, for Sarawak entrepreneurs to be considered for the oil and gas industry; and never have we seen so many Sarawak-based companies awarded contracts by Petronas as now.” he revealed.
DAP should not choose to be blind to the changes that had taken place, Abdul Karim said.
On the Pan Borneo highway, he said DAP knew it was a federal project and awarding of the contract was by Kuala Lumpur – not Sarawak.
“Why they choose to blame CM (Adenan) over this project is puzzling.
“On one hand, they have been barking in the DUN and Parliament on the need for a good highway but when the government wants to built one, they try to run down the project,” he said.
