Filipino jailed for concealing information about murder suspect

KOTA KINABALU: A Filipino was jailed for six months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for intentionally omitting to give information about his friend, who allegedly killed a woman at an abundant building.

Suhud Ambah, 38, pleaded guilty before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to a charge under Section 202 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by a jail term of up to six months or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The accused admitted to committing the offence at a squatter house at Kampung Limau-Limauan in Kinarut, Papar on March 28.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng told the court that on March 28, a man known as Jomar came to the accused’s workplace and invited the accused and his two friends to go to an abundant building.

Lim said that Jomar told the accused and the two others that the woman (the deceased) was at the building with her boyfriend.

The three of them, including the accused followed Jomar to the said place and when they reached the building, Jomar knocked a door and the woman opened it. Jomar then slashed the woman while her boyfriend managed to flee.

After that, on the same day at 11pm Jomar, the accused and the two others went back to the said place and brought the dead body of the woman to the roadside of Kampung Lembising in Putatan and Jomar pushed the body to the nearby river.

On March 31, a police lodged a report that he received information that there was a dead woman covered with cloth found at the river of Kampung Lembising.

The police managed to trace all of them and investigation also found that they had no valid travel documents.

The court also ordered the unrepresented accused to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his jail sentence for further action.
