MIRI: Orange team emerged champion for the Hat Tournament during the Seahorse City Challenge City 2.0 held at Curtin Sarawak’s football field last weekend.

The runner-up was Blue team while White team was third.

In the same category, Purple team was awarded with Best Spirit Award.

For the team tournament, champion winner was Falcon, followed by Vikings (runner-up) and Amplifire (third).

Amplifire also received Best Spirit Award for the tournament category.

The challenge was held on May 2-3, which attracted more than 130 participants from Brunei, Sibu, Sabah, Kuching, Bintulu and Miri.

It was an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament which was organised by Curtin University Frisbee Club.

According to the game rules, the players would have to compete in pool play first — where the highest ranked in the pool plays a crossover between the second ranked for semifinal round with the winner entering the final.

Chairman of SUPP Piasau branch, Datuk Sebastian Ting, who is also one of the sponsors for the frisbee challenge, was the guest of honour for the prize presentation of the challenge.

Ting said the Frisbee tournament not only forged ties between the players but also developed a good spirit of teamwork throughout the event.

Thus, he hoped all the players could keep their passion in this sport event, while inviting others to join the Frisbee fray in the future.

President of Curtin Ultimate Alexander Chin attributed the the tournament’s success to the organising committee and the volunteers.

“There would not be a successful tournament without the enthusiasm of sponsor and the participants. As we all know, Rome was not built in one day,” Chin said.

““Once again, asCurtin Ultimate president, I would like to thank all of our sponsors such as Miri City Council (MCC), Emart, MADLIs, AT Sport, Otea, Curtin Uni-life, Curtin Student Council, PARAGON, EATMYSHORTS, FIVE ULTIMATE, as well as the individual sponsorships.
