PRO-BN Sabah to dissolve due to ‘dirty politics’

KOTA KINABALU: After three years working relentlessly to defend Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno Sabah, PRO-Barisan Nasional Sabah (PRO-BN Sabah), a non-governmental organisation, will be disbanded due to alleged ‘dirty political manoeuvre’ among certain individuals within BN.

Its president, Zulkarnain Mahdar, said a decision would be made soon as he felt several individuals were not happy with the struggle of PRO BN Sabah in defending and voicing many issues on behalf of the BN government.

“I am upset with several actions taken by certain groups and individuals towards me and the organisation.

“They are not happy with what we have done, including our struggles in defending BN from being attacked by the opposition parties,” he said yesterday.

Zulkarnain, however, declined to name the group or individual but said the decision to disband the organization would be made soon.

“I have enough with their ‘dirty political scheme’ and I believe it is just appropriate to disband this organization.

“We will bring this matter up to our leadership in Kuala Lumpur to decide our next course of action,” he said, adding that he and several members would be meeting other PRO BNs in Kuala Lumpur next week.

Zulkarnain also said that he would urge the other PRO BNs to accept their decision to step down as a pro-government activist in Sabah.

“When we first started in 2012, I never foresaw that this would happen but that is part of politics.

“To tell you the truth, I am happy that we have to make this decision because we have approximately 30,000 followers throughout the state.

“Almost all of our members and followers are the younger generation, the ‘cyber-troopers’, who consistently defend the government from the opposition.

“But if our services are not being appreciated and needed anymore, then it is just appropriate for PRO BN Sabah to disband,” he said.

PRO BN Sabah, under the leadership and guidance of Zulkarnain, is regarded as the only non-governmental organization to continue to defend the BN government from criticism from the opposition parties.
