Sabah wants delivery of Esscom assets to be expedited

SANDAKAN, May 15 (Bernama) — Sabah is hopeful for the federal government to expedite delivery of assets required by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom), in view of the latest kidnapping incident.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who is also State Security Committee chairman revealed that he had already contacted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the matter.

“I contacted the prime minister yesterday requesting for the assets needed by ESSCom to be delivered quickly,” he told a media conference after a meeting with security agencies here, today.

He cited sending the Helicopter N3 which is currently kept in Kuala Lumpur to be sent to Sabah quickly for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA)to utilise, aside from other assets.

Yesterday, four armed men abducted a woman and a man from the Ocean King seafood restaurant.

Musa also said the public must play their role in relaying any information including about potential kidapping threats, to the security forces.

Meanwhile, ESSCom Commander Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun, MMEA Maritime District 17, enforcement chief, Capt A. Razak Abd Rahman and Royal Malaysian Navy, KD Sri Sandakan representative Lt Commander Mohd Lokman Nordin were at the meeting.-Bernama
