KUCHING: A 20-year-old man was fined RM5,000 in default nine months in jail by a Magistrate’s Court here after he pleaded guilty to causing hurt to a fellow villager.
Al Malek Hussin from Kampung Tabuan Lot appeared before Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman who imposed the sentence after taking into consideration his (Malek) mitigation, nature of offence as well as the submission made by the prosecution.
The accused was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for inflicting injuries to one Marzuki Ali, 18, at 1am on May 8 behind a house at Kampung Tabuan Lot here.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Ahmad Ilias told the court that the accused had voluntarily caused hurt to the victim with a sharp object, which required 30 stitches.
It is said that a misunderstanding had occurred between them prior to the incident.
