Banjarmasin Airport to serve 10 million passengers

BANJARBARU, South Kalimantan: President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I Tommy Soetomo said Banjarmasin Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, will be developed to serve 10 million passengers per year, Antaranews reported.

“If realized, the capacity development of the airport will serve 10 million passengers per year,” he said through Corporate Secretary Farid xNugraha here on Sunday.

The statement was made related to the inauguration of the airport development plan through the laying of the first stone (groundbreaking) by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, scheduled today (18/5).

He said the development of the airport located in Banjarbaru, about 24 kilometers west of the capital of the province of South Kalimantan to improve its services.

Syamsudin Noor Airport during 2014 served as many as 3.7 million passengers while the terminal capacity only to serve 1.3 million people.

“Through the development of the airport, the terminal area of ​​6,600 square meters previously planned to be 125,000 square meters so that it can serve 10 million passengers,” he said.
