SIBU: Police arrested five staff of a security office on Saturday on suspicion of complicity in the theft of six pump guns and 40 bullets from the premises.

Of the five, four guards aged between 22 and 44 and the other, a woman supervisor, 43, were detained on Saturday afternoon after the theft occurred in the morning.

They were placed under a four-day remand from yesterday for investigation.

A security guard had discovered that the weapons were missing when he returned to the office in Wong Nai Siong Road after finishing his night duty.

Police did not find any signs of break-in while two padlocks of the office cabinet where the pump guns and bullets were kept, had gone missing.

The office’s grill door was also left opened.

Police are investigating if the theft involved the staff (five detainees) of the security office.
