Man to be tried for causing death

KOTA KINABALU: The Sessions Court here yesterday fixed July 7 this year to re-mention the case of a local man charged with causing the death of a 30-year-old man.

Thien Tah Long, 34, who appeared before judge Dato’ Ishak Bakri, faces a charge under Section 304 (a) of the Penal Code which is punishable by a maximum jail of 30 years and a fine upon conviction.

Thien was alleged to have committed culpable homicide not amounting to murdering the man between 10pm and 11pm at a house at Jalan Kionsom in Inanam on May 7.

The court ordered the accused to be remanded under Section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code, pending disposal of the case.
