KUCHING: The Islamic Information Centre (IIC) will be holding a talk on ‘American Muslims and Islam’ in the United States of America (USA) at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) auditorium on May 25.

The talk will be presented by University of South Carolina Upstate, USA Associate Professor of World Religions/Comparative Religions, Prof Dr David Damrel.

Professor Damrel earned a PhD in the history of religions at the Duke University. He and his wife moved to Oxford, UK where he was a research fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.

The talk is part of the collaborative efforts between IIC and Pustaka through its IIC Corner and Pustaka.

The IIC Corner @ Pustaka was initiated in 2012 for the purpose of providing updates on programmes and activities of the centre and acting as a channel for information and knowledge outreach.

About 200 participants are expected to attend this talk, comprising officers from government agencies, corporate organisations, Islamic NGOs, institutions of higher learning as well as interested members of the public, both Muslims and non-Muslims.

IIC, established in 2008, has organised programmes and activities to promote and communicate the universality
