IPOH: A man was found dead, believed to be from an electric shock, at a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) substation in Taman Pantai Saujana 2 in Pantai Remis, on Thursday.

Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Tengku Mohd Zailan Tengku Ahmad Shah said the body of the victim, aged 24, was found in a drain at about 4pm.

“Results of a post-mortem conducted on the victim found that he had died about two to three days earlier, and when discovered, his body was covered with flies.

“The victim was unlucky when he came into contact with parts which had electric flow, causing him to die instantly from electrocution,” he said.

Tengku Zailan said the victim was believed to be planning to steal TNB electric cables after several tools such as cable cutters, pliers, and scissors were found near his body, believed to be for cutting cables in the TNB switch box.

He said early investigations found that the victim had just been discharged from a drug rehabilitation centre and had previously been detained by the police for a drug-related case.

Police have classified the case as sudden death and the victim’s body was currently being held at the Seri Manjung Hospital. — Bernama
