MIRI: The division’s first ever ‘Run with Bomba 2015’ on June 14 has received overwhelming response from the public, with 1,370 registrations for the charity run so far.
According to Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, since its closing date on May 11, there are still many calls seeking inquiries.
“However, due to the reasons including the preparation and producing the event’s finisher medal, we have decided to not accept any more registration. We apologize to those who are interested but unable to register,” he told a press conference yesterday.
“In fact, it is estimated that it would take several weeks to produce the finisher medals, hence the closing date was set for us to determine on the number of medals we have to prepare beforehand. Surely, like others, many who are seeking inquiry after the closing date, are attracted to the medal’s design. We appeal to the public’s understanding for the refusal to extend the registration period,” Law reiterated.
The press conference also saw Law receiving the sponsorship of ‘Revive’ isotonic drink from supplier, Pemanis Sandilands Sdn Bhd, who will be distributing free flow of the thirst quenching beverage to participants along
the 8km route which will be held at Marina Park Commercial Centre.
“We feel grateful to Pemanis Sandilands for their generosity to sponsor the isotonic drink, and their bid to support the charity run,” Law said.
The Run with Bomba charity run, organised by Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 Miri will be donating the fund raised through the run to Miri Autistic Association and Miri Diabetes Association.

urged running enthusiasts to participate in the up-coming
10th Charity Run on Aug 2, a yearly affair by Dynasty Hotel Miri.
