KAPIT: The annual general meeting (AGM) of any association should serve as the platform for members to raise questions and put forth proposals.

Kapit Tai San Ten Association chairman Kong Cheak Hie reminded that they should not however use it to channel out personal attack or hidden agenda.

“The AGM can be the right venue for members to ask or propose, but it must not come with negative attacks or hidden agenda. You’re free to voice out anything for the good of the association. We’re open to constructive criticisms and proposals,” he said during the association’s own AGM at its premises here on Saturday.

He stressed that the elected committee members had been entrusted by members to look after the association, adding: “This is a voluntary service. Of course, we’re human beings – we all make mistakes.

“When we do, it is just right that other members remind us of this and work on the solutions together.” On another matter, Kong said the association would soon commence the second phase of the new cemetery project at KM3 near Jalan Selirik here, comprising earth and basic infrastructure works.

“The first phase was completed earlier this year and before the next one starts, we need to wait for the soil to settle to avoid landslides and erosion,” he said.

The AGM was also attended vice chairman Ma Tian Kock, as well as advisers Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, Sia Shui Poh and Yeo kim Teck.
