SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor Religious and Fardu Ain (Kafa) teacher Ekhsan Bukharee Badrul Hisham can make an appeal against the termination of his service, said Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director Datuk Haris Kasim.

He said this was because the department had not issued any instructions forbidding Ekhsan Bukharee from making the appeal.

“He can appeal if he wants to, it is everyone’s right.

“In the termination of service letter issued to him, there was no mention that he cannot appeal…if he appeals, he can write to us and we can process his letter as usual,” he told reporters after officiating Jais’ 24-hour hotline and religious enforcers accreditation ceremony here yesterday.

He said this in response to Ekhsan Bukharee’s recent remarks questioning Jais’ decision to sack him over his demand for a raise of RM200 in allowance for Kafa teachers and accusing that Jais did not give him any chance to make an appeal against the decision.

“I also want to stress that Ekhsan Bukharee’s service was not terminated because he asked for a raise in allowance for Kafa teachers, but because he made a public statement on the issue to the media.

“If he has a problem, he should have come see me to resolve it, he does not even represent any Kafa teachers’ association on this issue.

“His demand (for a raise in allowance) was a personal move,” Haris said. — Bernama
