SIBU: Shipbuilder, Sky-E Marine Sdn Bhd, launched a utility vessel yesterday at a shipyard in Rantau Panjang here.

Spokesman for the company, Choi Man Siong, said the vessel was the largest utility vessel it built since the company moved into its new shipyard in Rantau Panjang about four years ago.

He said the vessel, Teluk Bajau Victory, had been bought by PT Pelayaran Teluk Bajau Cipta Sejahtera Samarinda, a company based in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

“Following the launching of the vessel this morning, we shall begin to give final touches to the vessel in preparation for delivery in a couple of weeks’ time,” Choi said.

The utility vessel, he explained, is a multi-purpose vessel.

“It has cabins enough to comfortably accommodate 42 persons.

“Therefore, it serves as a ‘floating hotel’ as well,” he enthused.

Among others present at the launching yesterday were Sky-E Marine Sdn Bhd managing director Choi Yau Lan, senior staff members Choi Man Siaw, Tang Chok Lung, Kong Kuei Chou and Pang Fuck Ming, and the vessel buyer’s representative E H Yong.
