SM Kampung Baru raises RM30,000 from joggerthon

KAPIT: SK Kampung Baru recently raised about RM30,000 from its joggerthon cum Open Day for co-curricular activities.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi also chipped in RM20,000 to support the fund-raising initiative, which was organised by the teachers and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

Nanta, who was the guest-of-honour, gave his thumbs up to the school and PTA for a job well done.

Some 400 pupils, teachers and PTA members gathered at the school very early that day to get going the various activities planned, including joggerthon, book exhibition, telematch and futsal game.

Several stalls were set up, too, including those by RHB Bhd, Agrobank. Some of the stalls sold jungle produce, fruits and vegetables, and also food and beverages.

The school’s PTA chairman, Mohd Matan Yok, and organising secretary, Francis Dana, were overjoyed that the event managed to raise some RM 30,000.

Political secretary to the Chief Minister, Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Deputy Kapit Resident Zul Usup, Pemanca Wasli Nor and Penghulu Abang Hamzah Bolhassan were seen among the crowd.
