PUTRAJAYA: The ‘halal’ certificate issued to Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn Bhd has been withdrawn not because of offences involving the use of prohibited items in the processing of its products, said the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
Jakim director of Halal Hub Division, Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, in a statement here today, said the certificate was withdrawn, effective May 7, after it was found that the company had breached the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual on hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
The statement was issued to clarify the issue on the withdrawal of the ‘halal’ certificate from Secret Recipe which had gone viral on social websites.
Hakimah said the company could re-apply for the certificate after it hadtaken necessary action to rectify the matter.
“Jakim will re-evaluate the application,” he added.
Hakimah said Jakim viewed seriously the matter and reminded holders of the ‘halal’ certificate to ensure their compliance with the standards on the halal certification at all times.-Bernama
