MIRI: Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mairin Idang has dismissed the Miri Waterfront car park case filed by Miri MP Dr Michael Teo after ruling that there is no merit in the application.
Dr Teo, represented by his lawyer See Chee How, who received the ruling through a video conference from Kuching, has also been ordered to pay cost of RM15,000 to Miri City Council (as first respondent), director of Land and Survey Sarawak (as second respondent), State Planning Authority (third respondent) and the Government of Sarawak (as fourth respondent) and RM15,000 to the fifth respondent Pantai Bayu Indah the developer.
Mayor Lawrence Lai said that he had no rights, under any circumstances, to speak on behalf of the developer.
“For your information, the controversial road linking Marina Commercial Centre and Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre is still under the authority of the developer.
“However, from the city council’s point of view, we hope it (construction work) can resume as soon as possible to alleviate the traffic chaos which has been happening for nearly nine months since the judicial review was filed.
He was also looking forward for the further development and completion of the road as it was for the betterment of the general public.
