KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat is to discuss today the finding of mass graves in Perlis containing the bodies of what is believed to be victims of human traffickers.

Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said said the debate on the matter would take place for an hour from 4.30 pm.

“I will allow the motion for a debate (on the matter) from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The debate will take place for 30 minutes, after which the government will reply,” he said after allowing a motion tabled by Gooi Hsiao-Leung (PKR-Alor
Setar).

Gooi had tabled the motion to, among other things, seek an explanation from the Home Ministry on the security of the country.

“A total of 139 graves and 28 camps believed to have housed victims of human traffickers have been found in Malaysia. This is of public interest because there is no safety at the country’s border,” he said. -Bernama
