MIRI: Police arrested a 17-year-old youth in Piasau Utara at 9.55pm Tuesday for allegedly stealing from his sister-in-law at her house in Desa Senadin (phase 2).

He was picked up following tip-off from members of the public.

The victim found that her valuables worth RM4,900 had gone missing from her wardrobe at 7.30pm Monday and suspected that her brother-in-law had stolen them.

Among the items were three sets of gold earrings, two gold rings, a gold necklace, an Iphone and a grinder.

The police only recovered a bracelet and a bag from the suspect.

Police chief here ACP Gan Tian Kee confirmed the case.

“Initial investigation revealed that the suspect had given the stolen items to two other men suspected to be his accomplices. The police are now tracing the two suspects and the stolen items,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
