KUCHING: Several outspoken Dayak non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here have resolved to apply to the Federal Court of Malaysia to intervene in the appeal by the state government against the recognition of the Iban Adat of “pemakai menoa” and “pulau galau”.

During a forum organised by the Dayak National Congress (DNC) recently, the NGOs which included Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) and Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) beseeched the state government to recognise the Iban Adat of pemakai menoa (communal land), pulau galau (communal forest reserve) and similar customs of all Dayak communities in Sarawak.

The forum on May 9 also called on Dayak ministers, Member of Parliaments (MPs) and State Legislature to voice their support for the recognition of the Iban Adat of communal land, communal forest reserve and the similar customs of all Dayaks, said DNC vice president Paul Raja.
