PUTRAJAYA: The police are looking for a director of Rossington Consolidated Sdn Bhd (RCSB) to assist them in the investigation into the use of a forged support letter of the Education Ministry to obtain a RM5.7 million loan from CIMB Bank.

Putrajaya Police deputy chief Supt Mak Pak Chuai said the police received a report from a representative of the ministry on Aug 16 last year that the signature of the former

secretary-general of the ministry, Tan Sri Dr Zulkarnain Awang, had been forged on the Letter of Consent used to obtain the loan.

A police investigation showed that the company had obtained the loan, he said in a statement yesterday.

Mak said that according to an agreement between CIMB Bank and RCSB, all payments for contract jobs by the ministry would be paid into the Escrow Account set up with the agreement of the company directors and CIMB Bank.

“Investigation showed that the Education Ministry had no knowledge of the loan obtained by RCSB from CIMB Bank.

“The ministry did not receive any instruction from RCSB to make the payments to the Escrow Account,” he said.

Mak said that the forgery resulted in CIMB Bank suffering a loss of RM5.7 million.

He said anyone who had information on the case could contact the investigating officer, ASP Balwant Singh, at the Commercial Crime Investigations Division in Putrajaya at 03-88862044 or 012-2889007. — Bernama
