MIRI: Police in Marudi arrested a 41-year-old farmer on Thursday to facilitate the investigation of the alleged rape of his biological daughter.

It is understood that the 17-year-old complainant alleged that she had been raped multiple times by the suspect since she was 13. The rapes are said to have occurred whenever she was alone with the suspect.

“The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and the suspect has been arrested the same day (on Thursday) around 2.45pm,” Marudi acting police chief ASP Jaimi Husin said when contacted yesterday.

“For the past few years, the complainant has kept her mouth shut as she was worried for her safety because she said that the suspect had threatened to harm her if she told anybody about the incident.”

The complainant has been taken to Miri Hospital for a medical check-up.
