Teacher killed in Beluran car-bus collision

TELUPID: A 30-year-old teacher from SK Wonod, Telupid was killed when the Toyota Vios car he was driving collided head-on with an express bus at Kilometer 4, off Telupid-Ranau bypass.

Beluran police chief Supt Sivanathan Velautham said the victim, Ahmad Firdauz Husin from Malacca, was driving alone when the incident happened around 2.35pm.

“The impact of the crash resulted in the car being dragged for about 50 metres,” he said, adding that Ahmad Firdaus’ body was removed from the vehicle by firemen and sent to the Telupid Hospital.

He said the 29-year-old bus driver was detained to assist in the investigation under Section 41(1) Road Transport 1987.
