Improvements seen in Dayang’s quarterly earnings

Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd’s (Dayang) earnings could witness further improvements in the second quarter of 2015 (2Q15). AllianceDBS Research Sdn Bhd yesterday said the oil and gas company’s earnings could pick up in 2Q15 as some of the company’s vessels have managed to secure shorter term charters to carry out work orders.

Labuan IBFC records 12.3 pct growth in registration of companies for FY2014

The Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) recorded a 12.3 per cent growth in new companies registered in Labuan for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2014. Bank Negara Malaysia  Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said a strategic connectivity with Asia, greater trade and investment linkages had supported an expansion in Labuan’s business activities.

 

Exceptional performance for Sarawak Cable in 1Q15

Sarawak Cable Bhd (Sarawak Cable) yesterday announced results for the first quarter ending March 2015 (1Q15) with turnover amounting to RM343.61 million.

This represents a jump of 334 per cent or 4.3 times from RM79.21 million seen in the same quarter last year.

Khazanah appoints administrator for MAS

Khazanah Nasional Bhd, the sole shareholder of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), has appointed Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi as Administrator for the airline, effective Monday. The appointment of the administrator will facilitate the transfer of selected assets and liabilities from MAS to the new company, Malaysia Airlines Bhd, effectively by Sept 1,2015.

IMD announced its annual world competitiveness ranking which looks at several aspects of each country as a place to conduct business. A general analysis of the 2015 ranking shows that top countries are going back to the basics. Malaysia ranked 14th in the list this year

Malaysia’s international investment position at RM1.2 billion

The net liabilities position of Malaysia’s international investment stood at RM1.2 billion at the end of the first quarter, an improvement of RM11.9 billion, from RM13.1 billion registered at the end of last year.
