Two more victims of longboat tragedy found

BINTULU: The Search and Rescue (SAR) team found two more bodies this morning from the longboat tragedy that occurred at the Kemena River mouth on June 2.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) the first body was discovered about 50 meters from the site of the tragedy at 7am this morning.

Two hours later at 9am, they found the second body – a little boy – around 200 meters from the site.

They were two of the eight family members aboard the longboat on June 2 that collided with a barge berthed near Ninggu Sigat, a boat dockyard.

One survived the tragedy while a 63-year-old woman was the first victim to be found on June 2 at 4.30pm.
