KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah yesterday received 30 cakes in conjunction with His Majesty’s birthday on Saturday.

The cakes, contributed by various hotels, were presented to the King and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah at the Banquet Hall of Istana Negara, here.

The cakes included a 40kg orange-coloured fruit cake from Maya Hotel, carrying the theme of Malay traditional musical instruments and a 50kg throne-shaped chocolate cake from Renaissance Hotel.

Intercontinental Hotel presented an 80kg fruit cake, with the theme ‘Visit Malaysia 2015’.

Another cake, with the ‘millennium’ theme, presented by Grand Millennium Hotel, was the heaviest cake, weighing 100 kg.

The cakes will be given to the orphanages and the less fortunate.

The cake presentation is an annual event held in conjunction with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. — Bernama
