JOHOR BAHARU: Talks of PAS and DAP to sever ties is just a ploy or political packaging to appease their supporters, says MCA vice-president Datuk Chua Tee Yong.
He said the way the three parties in the opposition pact had been behaving so far was not a surprise, reflecting each party’s desire to be in power.
“Pakatan Rakyat is communicating to the people that they are all caught up in this power problem. Each (of them), wants to be the big boss.
“(But), at the end of the day, they keep on saying it is for the rakyat,” he told reporters after officiating at the SME Bank Group Outreach and Biz Talk 2015 at a hotel, here, yesterday.
Chua, who is also Labis Member of Parliment, was commenting on PAS ulama wing’s mulling over severing ties with DAP but still wanting to remain in Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
“With PAS saying it is severing ties with DAP but will still work with Pakatan and DAP saying it will sever ties with Hadi (PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) but will work with PAS, I really don’t know how they go about it.
“Actually, it is political spinning or political packaging by letting you interpret what they want. To their supporters, they will interpret according to their own version, in the hope that their supporters will continue to support them,” he added.
Chua said the three parties in PR had not been in consensus for a long time, especially with Parti Keadilan Rakyat announcing its shadow cabinet, followed by DAP’s version of shadow cabinet.

On Wednesday, at its muktamar (annual assembly) the ulama wing approved an emergency motion to sever ties with DAP, but agreed that PAS remained in Pakatan Rakyat, sending a strong signal to DAP. — Bernama
