KOTA KINABALU: The staff of Queen Elizabeth Hospital II’s Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit have earned the praises and gratitude of the Lee family from Sandakan for their good service when their mother was admitted there in April.

Justin Lee said that their late mother Madam Mary Fong Siew Yin from Sandakan was admitted to the CCU in April where she underwent a heart bypass surgery.

“She was here in the state capital and had a cardiac arrest. At that time we did not know that she had a heart problem. When it was diagnosed, the doctors said she has to undergo a bypass,” he said.

Justin said if it was not for the QEHII’s CCU, they would not have known that their mother had a poor heart condition.

Throughout her time warded in the CCU and CICU after surgery, the staff were very attentive to her, Justin said.

“My siblings and I as well as our respective families want to say thank you to all of them for their good service to our mother who was warded for almost a month. Our gratitude goes especially to Mr David Tang, Mr Ho and Dr Kim as well as all the staff nurses,” he said.

“We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the surgeon, doctors, nurses and all staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital II Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, namely Mr David Tang, Mr Ho, Dr Mat Ramlee, Dr Norhayati, Dr Logan Jeyaindran, Dr Pravin Rubon, Dr Ong Jen Yeung, Dr Calvin Lau, Dr Liew Houng Bang, Dr Kim, Dr Gordon Ma, Dr Jeremy, Dr Ravi, Dr Sharin, Dr Khairi, Dr Anthony, Dr Yen CH, Dr Lee YW, Dr Beh BC, Dr Mohan, Dr Wong CK, Dr Roberto, Dr Amie, Dr Tan YZ, Dr Hariz, PPP Rayneal, KJ. Siti Asmeh Ahmad Miji, KJ. Jevita Benedict, KJ. Halima Othman, Almalin Abdulla, Stella Dansip, Calyin Chai, Zahara Suadin, Dina Sangir and Salbiah Abdul,” Justin said.

He said that their late mother had succumbed to complications from diabetes on May 24.

“Dr Kim, after hearing the news came to the ward and grieved with us,” he said, adding that their late mother had ‘adopted’ the staff and treated them as her children.

“We are saddened by our mother’s passing but we will always be grateful for the good treatment she received in the CCU and CICU,’ he added.

There is no doubt that QEH II has a very good heart centre to serve the people, he said.
