KUCHING: Naim Group of Companies and the state Forest Department have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to embark upon a three-year environmental conservation programme.

The collaboration includes conservation of wetlands here and tree-planting initiatives in Miri and Bintulu.

Naim and the department will also launch various initiatives on conservation awareness for staff members as well as students in selected schools.

At the signing ceremony, Naim’s head of corporate communications Caroline Yeo said the group had always assumed environmental stewardship by integrating environmental conservation initiatives in its operations and that of its contractors.

She said the three-year programme was one of the group’s main activities to mark its 20th anniversary this year.

“With this collaboration, we hope to increase our efforts in facilitating conservation initiatives and to help inculcate the mindset within our community —that environmental conservation matters; that everyone can play a part to heal the world for the good of ourselves and our future generations.

“We believe that building a strong business and creating a better world are essential ingredients for long-term success,” she said before the department’s deputy director (development and administration) Said Gapar and Naim’s senior director Abg Hasni Abg Hasnan signed the MOU.
