MIRI: The Miri Life Care Society recently elected new committee members for the term 2015 to 2016.
Chairman Boon Siaw Chieng will be assisted by deputy Denny Chong and vice-chairmen Lai Siw Kim, Helen Ngieng and Richard Teo.
Also on the committee are secretary Lim Shen Yin, assistant secretary Helen Ngieng, treasurer Kho Yam Chue and assistant treasurer Tan Beng Chan.
Completing the line-up are Sim Poh Chai (public relations), Tay Soi Hiang (assistant public relations), Bibiana Wong (education), Ng Wai Kuan (assistant education), Chung Kung Jin (welfare), Liu Yie Lung (general affairs), Chan Kim Fah (assistant general affairs) and Jenny Lim (recreation).
Yesterday the committee members paid a courtesy call on United People’s Party (UPP) northern region coordinator Datuk Hii King Chiong.
“It’s a normal event for us to conduct a courtesy call on Datuk Hii to seek his advice and views,” Boon said.
Hii called on the committee to be more focussed on people-oriented issues.
“It is one of the role’s of the society’s approach to address various community issues and interests that serve as a platform to ensure that our community is a caring society,” he added.
