KUALA LUMPUR: See Hua Group comprising The Borneo Post, thesundaypost, See Hua Daily News and Utusan Borneo remained the No. 1 newspapers in Sarawak for July to December last year.

Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) Malaysia figures showed the newspapers with 66,023; 70,191; 67,920; and 36,264 copies respectively in average net circulation per publishing day for the audited period.

In Sabah, The Borneo Post was close to the top spot with 23,044 copies; while See Hua Daily News and Utusan Borneo topped the charts with 27,619 and 14,452 copies respectively.

Newly-appointed ABC Malaysia chairman Fan Chen Yip said independently verified net circulation figures announced by ABC remain essential in an increasingly aggressive advertising arena.

“In revising the By-laws and Circulation Reporting Standards, ABC is keeping up with the efforts of its publication members in engaging their targeted audience with the various media dissemination platforms available,” he said.

Fan, who is also Audit Committee chairman, said there was a 6 per cent slide in the Average Net Circulation per Publishing Day for newspapers (paid category) circulated in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, in comparison with the previous audit period from January to June 2014.

The net average circulation per publishing day for digital replica editions during the audit period of July to December last year continued to grow.

“Nevertheless newspapers remain a prominent medium used for marketing and communications campaigns by advertisers, as stated in the Ad Spend Report issued by Nielsen Malaysia for April 2015. This validates the essence of the Net Audited Circulation Figures per Publishing Day announced by ABC,” he said.
