KUCHING: State PKR vice-chairman See Chee How firmly believes that the spirit and mettle that have founded and driven Pakatan Rakyat for the last seven years will persist despite the demise of the coalition.
“The political coalition of Pakatan Rakyat may have ceased to function formally; the relationship between the parties may have been strained but I firmly believe that the spirit and mettle that have founded and driven Pakatan Rakyat for the last seven years will persist,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
See who is Batu Lintang assemblyman was commenting on a statement by party president Datuk seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on Wednesday acknowledging that PR had ceased functioning as a political coalition.
This was after PAS decided in their resolution during their recent Muktamar to sever ties with DAP, and the subsequent announcement by DAP central executive committee of the end of PR.
See said it was the wisdom of the leadership of the three parties — PKR, DAP and PAS — that had formulated the PR common policy platform to bind the opposition forces to work for the common aspiration of all Malaysians for a two-coalition political system to break the dominance of Umno-led BN in Malaysia, and the political hegemony capitalising on the differences of ethnicity and religious beliefs to divide and rule the country.
“That very fundamental aspiration of Malaysians to liberate the country from such political dominance and hegemony continues.”
See said Malaysians must therefore strive for inclusiveness so that all ethnic communities and groups have a common platform and roles to play in nation-building.
“Whether it is at the national front or in the State of Sarawak, Keadilan will continue to pioneer all efforts to build a coalition of political parties, non-governmental organisations, groups and generally all individuals to challenge and
defeat the Umno-led BN coalition that is leading the country into political and socio-economic ruin, and racial and religious polemics.”
