SIBU: Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu branch donated essential foodstuff to victims of a fire which destroyed Rumah Meruan in Nanga Tada Resettlement Scheme, Nibong-Tada Road, Kanowit recently.
Branch chairman Tengku Gruna, who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister, handed over the donation to Tuai Rumah Meruan recently.
Speaking at the occasion, he hoped other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) would come forward to help the victims.
He said Malaysians were known to be a caring people who responded quickly to any call to help people in need.
The 36-door longhouse was destroyed by a 4.30pm fire on June 7.
